Woodway Estate is a sustainable, biodiversity-friendly farm in Baba Budan Giri Hills, India. Specialty coffee is grown here together with several types of pepper, avocado, citrus and mulberry – all in harmony with the local flora and fauna.
Woodway is also one of the few coffee farms in India (if not the world) to have a Wildlife Friendly certification. Woodway has been run by the Hulikere family for three generations. The farm became completely chemical-free in late 2016 and is therefore experiencing a gradual influx of birds and small mammals from the nearby Bhadra State forest.
On this microlot, the producer Shreedev has slowly dried the variety Chandragiri in its own pulp. The result is a full-bodied, wonderfully buttery espresso, with a soft acidity and notes of dark berries, chocolate, spices and tropical fruit.
